چکیده

The aim of this study was to evaluate the stock total organic carbon (TOC) and perform physical-granulometric fractionation soil matter (SOM) in different management systems (MS). Three MS one reference area Native Forest (NF) were studied, three sugarcane (SC), permanent pasture (PP) no-tillage system (NTS). Soil samples collected 0–0.05, 0.05–0.10, 0.10–0.20-m layers. density (Sd), TOC, stratification index (SI), (StockC), variation StockC (∆StockC), content particulate (C-POM) mineral (C-MOM), (CSI), lability (L), (LI), (CMI) determined. presented higher Sd than NF area. had TOC contents first layers, reaching 25.40 g kg-1 0–0.05-m layer, with PP having values layer. showed highest levels C-POM (15.25 kg-1) C-MOM (10.15 In NTS superior others. Regarding content, SC CMI observed areas increased reduced levels. modified POM fraction, MOM fraction most impacted by SOM altered superficial

The Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...

Role of soil fertility management on productivity of sesame and cowpea under different cropping systems

ABSTRACT- Declining land productivity associated with decreasing soil organic carbon and nutrients is a significant issue in monoculture production. The field experiment with different rates of fertilizer systems (60 kg ha-1 N + 100 kg ha-1 P, 300 kg ha-1 Bio-organic (organic fertilizer), 3 kg ha-1 Bioumik (biofertilizer), 30 kg ha-1  N + 50 kg ha-1 P + 150 kg ha-1 Bio-organic fertilizer and 30...

Biomass and carbon stock, carbon sequestration potential under selected land use systems in punjab

Carbon dioxide increase is attributed mainly combustion of fossil fuel and deforestation worldwide.1,2 The current atmospheric carbon concentration is 397.60 ppm.3 The CO2 concentration and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere have increased considerably and are set to rise further. Two major environmental issues of the world today’s are climate change and biodiversity. Increase in a...

Carbon sequestration in sugarcane plant and soil with different cultivation systems

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is a multi-purpose crop, mainly planted in South-western (SW) parts of Iran. However, the capability of sugarcane farms to sequestrate carbon into soil and plant is not well documented. In this research, the carbon sequestration in sugarcane plant and soil in a ratooning traditional cultivation system at the Amirkabir Sugarcane Agro-Industry Complex...
